Littler’s ‘Ohana Affinity Group Names Danielle Herring as Co-Chair

HOUSTON (January 30, 2018) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has appointed Houston-based Shareholder Danielle Herring as co-chair of its ‘Ohana Affinity Group. She joins Eugene Ryu, shareholder in the downtown Los Angeles office, who has served as ‘Ohana co-chair since 2010.

“Danielle is an excellent choice to serve as co-chair of the ‘Ohana Affinity Group,” said Ryu. “Her commitment to diversity is evident through her ongoing efforts to advance the firm’s culture of inclusion, as well as expand opportunities for diverse attorneys to thrive.”

‘Ohana translates to “family” in Hawaiian. The ‘Ohana Affinity Group gathers Littler’s Asian, South Asian and Pacific-Islander attorneys to network and discuss firm and diversity initiatives, including associate development, business development, mentorship, retention programs and opportunities to leverage skills in order to better service clients.

“I am excited to work alongside Gene and all of the members of ‘Ohana to further the goals of our group,” said Herring. “'Ohana has extensive initiatives in place and I look forward to building upon those efforts while creating new opportunities for our diverse attorneys to excel professionally.”

In her practice, Herring defends a variety of employment litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as providing counsel and advice to clients. Her experience focuses on benefit denial, fiduciary breach and civil penalties claims filed under ERISA and related state law claim defense. She represents employers before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

In addition to her role as ‘Ohana co-chair, Herring is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of the Houston Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She also serves as the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative liaison for the Houston office and is co-chair of Littler’s ERISA and Benefit Plan Litigation Practice Group. She has been named a Top Lawyer by Houstonia magazine, as well as a Rising Star by Texas Super Lawyers and Texas Monthly magazine.
