Robert S. Blumberg represents and advises employers in a wide variety of labor, employment and business law matters, including in the following types of litigation:
- Wrongful discharge
- Discrimination
- Harassment suits
- Unfair competition
- Wage and hour class actions
A substantial portion of Robert’s practice includes providing advice and counseling to employers facing day-to-day issues of employee relations, discipline and wage and hour questions. His advice practice is focused on helping employers manage potential litigation risks while still permitting employers to focus on managing their business.
Robert spends the majority of his time litigating matters in state and federal courts, as well as before various administrative agencies. He has been the lead attorney on numerous litigation matters, including claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation brought under state and federal law. Robert has also been lead litigation counsel in state and federal court class actions, including cases asserting wage and hour and discrimination claims. In addition, he has represented employers in claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. Robert is among the firm’s experts in issues concerning background checks. He has been lead counsel in both jury and bench trials and has filed briefs and appeared in the Court of Appeals for California on several occasions.
Robert has been the Managing Shareholder of Littler Mendelson’s Los Angeles office since August 2007. In addition to his active litigation practice, he is responsible for helping the office’s sixty attorneys and support staff provide the best possible representation for employers.
Robert has spent his entire career with Littler Mendelson, beginning as a summer associate in 1991, and as a full-time litigation associate beginning in 1992. Previously, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable George King, U.S. District Court, Central District of California. He was also an extern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York and served as a legislative intern for Senator Pete Wilson.
