Presenters will review newly enacted legislation in Connecticut and what these new laws mean for employers doing business in the state, including:

  • Amendments to noncompete statutes impacting the healthcare industry
  • Expansion of the Workers' Compensation Act to allow PTSD benefits for all employees witnessing workplace violence
  • Elimination of recently enacted business reporting requirements regarding employee demographics
  • Revisions to nondiscrimination statutes to add age as a protected characteristic and redefine sexual orientation

The panel will also discuss some surprises in the proposed bills that did not pass this year, and why employers should keep these on their radar, such as:

  • Expansion of paid sick leave to all employees
  • Restrictions on the use of noncompete agreements
  • Predictive scheduling requiring 14 days' notice to employees
  • Expansion of pay transparency requirements

Noteworthy updates related to existing Connecticut employment laws, including the Clean Slate Act, minimum wage and the state's mandatory retirement program, will round out this informational 60 minutes designed to update Connecticut employers.
