Michael G. Congiu advises and represents employers in various areas of employment and traditional labor law before state and federal district courts, federal appellate courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and other state agencies responsible for investigating workplace discrimination and harassment.
Additionally, Michael is an active member of the firm's International Employment and Labor Law Practice Group, as well as the firm’s Leaves of Absence and Disability Accommodation Practice Group. He has authored numerous publications and is a frequent speaker on international employment and labor law issues.
Michael also has extensive experience responding to audit requests from regulatory agencies such as the Department of Labor, the Illinois Department of Employment Security, and the Illinois Commerce Commission.
While in law school, Michael served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge Joan Gottschall of the Northern District of Illinois and as a legal extern for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Supervisory Administrative Law Judge Margaret Lee Herbert. He also served as notes and comments editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. In college, he was captain of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's men's soccer team and, prior to attending law school, he served as a volunteer in Costa Rica.
