Katie Goetzl is a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team based in Virginia. She is responsible for the drafting of early case evaluations (ECE). She identifies and reviews pertinent documents, interviews relevant witnesses, and drafts ECE reports. In keeping with each client’s litigation philosophy, she partners with the local Littler litigation team and assists in developing and executing strategies for effectively handling litigation.
Prior to joining the Littler CaseSmart team, Katie was a shareholder and advised and litigated on behalf of employers in all types of employment disputes in state and federal courts, before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state fair employment practice agencies. She has experience handling bench and jury trials, arbitration and mediation. She has represented employers in claims involving:
- Wrongful termination
- Breach of contract
- Title VII
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act
- The Family and Medical Leave Act
- 42 U.S.C. § 1981
- The Fair Labor Standards Act
- Virginia state laws
Katie has experience handling drug-testing issues and has helped employers draft and implement substance-abuse prevention policies. In law school, she was an administrative editor of The Tax Lawyer.
