Wellness Programs: Navigating the New Regulatory Environment

More and more corporations are turning to wellness programs as a means of mitigating rising healthcare costs. However, there are several legal issues and regulations surrounding wellness program design and implementation. Recent updates and amendments exacerbate the confusion, making it more difficult for employers to manage program design and know if they are running the risk of violating federal laws.

As more and more employers turn to integrated wellness programs, it will be important for employers to understand how to navigate the regulatory environment. At this meeting, participants will learn about:

  • Designing wellness programs that are both effective & compliant;
  • Components of a HIPAA-compliant wellness programs;
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how it pertains to wellness programs;
  • The new proposed Genetic Information Non-discrimination Act (GINA) and its implications for Health Risk Assessments (HRA);
  • Regulatory changes and updates for 2010; and,
  • Effective use of incentives and disincentives in program design.
