Wage & Hour Issues in the Oil Patch

Friday, October 24

  • 7:00 AM PDT
Houston, TX

This breakfast briefing will provide critical information about the wave of wage & hour claims being filed against employers in the oil and gas industry primarily in the geographic areas experiencing the fracking drilling boom (e.g. Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Dakota, Ohio).

Topics addressed include day rate and other pay practices, off-the-clock issues, compensation for travel time, failing to include bonuses in regular rate, independent contractor classifications, staffing arrangements between operators and contractors, Department of Labor Investigations, and Fair Labor Standards Act opt-in litigation.

The program will include a summary of the issues we see on a day-to-day basis along with practical suggestions on implementing lawful practices and avoiding costly litigation. Even if your company is not directly involved in the oil and gas industry, you may want to attend this two-hour breakfast briefing to refresh yourself on the legal obligations that will be addressed.
