Upcoming Affordable Care Act Presentations

events2.JPGWith all the reports last week about the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ("Affordable Care Act") that went into effect beginning on or after September 23, 2010, some employers may want to revisit the short-term and long-term implications of the legislation. The timeline for implementing some changes is now and the strategic business decisions needed to be made will continue to occur for some time. While employers have been attending presentations and reading various reports since March of this year, changes are occurring monthly with new regulations and new understandings about this landmark legislation. Employers must be ready for their new responsibilities and requirements and will need to continue to hear from the experts about how these changes are going to dramatically impact compensation, benefit plans and their business strategies. Littler has been and continues to host a number of presentations across the nation that will explore:

  • New "employer responsibility" requirements
  • Health insurance reforms and modifications to existing employee benefits plans
  • How the excise tax on high-cost insurance plans and other "pay-fors" will apply to employers
  • Special considerations with respect to collectively bargained employees
  • Wellness programs
  • Practical steps that should be taken to comply with the new law

Upcoming presentations include Breakfast Briefings in Sacramento and Boston (Sept. 28), San Francisco (Sept. 30), and Denver (Oct. 8).
