Littler Adds Shareholder Darren Gibson to Austin Office

AUSTIN, Texas (January 11, 2017) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added Darren Gibson as a shareholder in the Austin, Texas, office. Gibson was previously a senior associate at O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath.

“Darren’s strength in litigation, including his tenure as an assistant attorney general in Texas, and collective employment law experience make him a natural fit for Littler,” said Earl (Chip) M. Jones III, office managing shareholder of the Austin office. “We are excited to have him join our flourishing office in Austin, which further expands our reach throughout the state and Southwest region.”

Gibson is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience in federal and Texas courts. His practice focuses on representing universities, school districts and governmental institutions. He has litigated in state and federal venues across the country, defended clients before federal regulators and state licensing boards, and represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations. Gibson was previously an assistant attorney general in the General Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, where he defended state agencies in employment litigation and class actions. Prior to moving his practice to Texas, he was a senior associate at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher in New York City, where he represented clients in the accounting and financial services industries regarding securities litigation, internal investigations and business disputes.

“Joining the Littler team provides me the opportunity to collaborate with forward-thinking lawyers from all areas of labor and employment law,” said Gibson. “This, combined with the firm’s continued growth globally, will be beneficial to my practice and the service offerings I can provide clients.”

Board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Gibson is licensed to practice in Texas and New York. Outside of his practice, he is active in the Austin community and serves on the Austin Symphony Orchestra board of directors. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Kentucky.

Littler expanded to Texas in 1992 and strengthened its regional presence in 2015 with the opening of the Austin office – the third location in the state. The firm also has offices in Houston and Dallas. In 2016, all three of the firm’s Texas offices earned a “Tier 1” designation in the U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” list in the Employment Law – Management and Labor Law – Management categories.
