Rana Haimout focuses her practice on labor and employment law matters.
Rana has managed over 20 client union campaigns in Southern California, resulting in nine election wins and two petition withdrawals. She also has managed a cannabis union campaign in Nevada.
Her experience includes researching labor case law and drafting statements of position to defend against eight Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges. She has conducted witness interviews and prepared witnesses for ULP trial. Rana drafted and prepared a memo regarding the WARN Act for board of directors to support decision-making resulting in layoffs of more than 100 people. She also researched and drafted a 13-page memo regarding the application of the Federal Sovereign Immunities Act on a defense of immunity to potential claims under local, state, or federal employment laws.
Rana conducts employee relations training sessions for Fortune 500 clients, including delivering campaign strategy and union legal advice to guide corporate counsel, regional directors, and district and store managers. She has also presented sexual harassment training to an audience of over 300.
Prior to joining Littler, Rana was a labor relations intern, where she:
- Analyzed collective bargaining agreements enterprise-wide and competitor contracts to strategize and provide suggestions for 2021 union negotiations
- Participated in Mock Arbitration and researched grievances, prepared legal arguments for and against violation of a Last Chance Agreement and a wrongful termination
- Managed work environment assessments (WEAs) to determine inefficiencies in various departments and presented improvements to site leadership
Previously, she served as a summer law clerk and a recruiter.
During law school, Rana was a staff editor for the Michigan State Law Review, a graduate assistant at the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and a teaching assistant for the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.
