Overview

John Michael Carter focuses his practice on labor and employment law matters. 

Prior to joining Littler, John Michael represented clients in varied civil litigation, primarily in a defense context, in courts throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including federal courts. He has deposed parties, independent witnesses, and experts; appeared for court hearings and mediations; drafted pleadings, appellate briefs, and written discovery responses; updated claims representatives; prepared litigation plans, case evaluations, and budgets; counseled insurers and policyholders on insurance coverage issues; and managed legal assistants and paralegals. Previously he practiced civil litigation with focuses in tort defense and insurance coverage with a small firm in London, Kentucky. John Michael also served as staff attorney for Judge Gregory A. Lay of the 27th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky, Laurel and Knox Counties. 

John Michael teaches courses in business law as an adjunct professor at Owensboro and Madisonville Community Colleges.
