Jeannie Yim Figer is a member of the Littler CaseSmart® team and is based in New York. As a brief writer assigned to single plaintiff litigation matters, she formulates and executes briefing strategy for cases. She evaluates and selects legal authority that supports the facts and circumstances of each case and prepares substantive briefs and motions, including complex dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, discovery motions and briefings concerning other strategic issues.
Jeannie has successfully represented employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights. She has experience advising employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including litigating claims arising under federal and state laws, such as:
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
- The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- The Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
- Discrimination and retaliation
- Wrongful discharge, defamation and related state torts
Prior to joining Littler, Jeannie practiced with law firms in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, MD, Rochester, NY, and abroad on behalf of international corporate clients, foreign governments and Fortune 500 corporations, handling commercial and labor and employment litigation, supervising teams of associates and paralegals in large-scale discovery, and responding to subpoenas in federal and state investigations. She was in-house litigation counsel for a global telecommunications company in Washington, D.C., where she oversaw and managed hundreds of complex commercial cases, including class actions, international arbitrations, contract disputes, and cases brought by and against employees.
