Hector Galeano handles all aspects of business visas and immigration related employer compliance investigations. He advises legal and human resources departments on immigration compliance, implementation of immigration policies, and management of visa options for current and potential candidates. He counsels employers on immigration compliance in matters related to ICE I-9 Audits, Department of Labor (DOL) investigations, and investigations by the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section of the Department of Justice (formerly the Office of Special Counsel). He provides employers with training on I-9 compliance, and management of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing. He prepares and oversees the preparation of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa filings with the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State and drafts labor certifications for submission with the DOL. As part of the Global Mobility team, he works with local counsel to develop strategies for employers on employment visas and work permits for other jurisdictions including: Brazil, the United Kingdom, China, Mexico and India.
Prior to joining Littler, Hector worked on nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters, appeared before the immigration court handling complex removal proceedings, asylum cases, and family based immigration matters. He has extensive experience working with local counsel to prepare employment visas and work permits for other countries.
