As a member of the Littler CaseSmart – Charges™ team and based in Pennsylvania, Danielle Mehallo is responsible for handling charges from investigation to conclusion. She works on client-dedicated service teams, specializing in handling administrative agency charges. She investigates charge allegations, reviews pertinent documents, interviews key witnesses, and provides clients an assessment of the risks associated with the charge. In partnership with the client, she defends the charge by drafting persuasive position statements and responses to the agency’s requests for information.
Prior to joining Littler, Danielle worked in-house for a Fortune 500 specialty chemicals company. She provided legal advice to human resources professionals and business leaders on a variety of employment and labor issues, including:
- Recruiting and hiring
- Performance management, discipline, and termination of employment
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
- Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- Federal and state Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws
Danielle developed and conducted training for human resources professionals and managers to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, corporate policies and procedures. She also prepared corporate policies and handbooks, provided legal review of corporate restructuring and reductions-in-force and handled all phases of state agency and EEOC proceedings. She conducted and supervised investigations of internal complaints involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, retaliation and other employment-related claims.
Previously, Danielle served as a law clerk to the Hon. John E. Steele, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Hon. Nancy A. Vecchiarelli, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
