Overview

Douglas Sanderson is an experienced attorney who has focused his career on labour and employment law.

Prior to joining Littler, Doug was vice chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. His primary function was to resolve human rights applications by adjudication or mediation. Doug authored hundreds of decisions of various types and acted as a mediator in hundreds of mediations and mediation/adjudications (mediation during the hearing), achieving a high settlement rate. He was also engaged in training and mentoring new adjudicators as well as managing administratively challenging cases.

Previously, Doug held several senior employee relations roles with one of Canada’s largest banks. His focus in these positions included providing employment law/employee relations advice, litigation management and resolution, training, internal investigations, and policy development. After being called to the bar, he practiced as a junior labour and employment lawyer at a large Canadian multidisciplinary firm, providing support for senior lawyers and appearing before courts, labour arbitrators and administrative tribunal. After law school, Doug served as an articling student in Canada’s largest labour and employment law firm.
