Eric L. Compere focuses his practice on workplace safety standards and counseling employers on ever-changing compliance regulations and emerging issues.

Eric was previously an attorney with the California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA). He represented the division in a range of matters, including administrative hearings, appellate briefings and oral arguments. Eric represented the director in litigation involving the Uninsured Employers Benefits Trust Fund and the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund litigation. He also issued decisions on Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) retaliatory termination appeals. He advised California’s governor’s office on matters related to safety and health in the workplace and conducted legislative reviews of proposed regulation for the state’s Labor and Workforce Development Agency. During the coronavirus pandemic, Eric conducted statewide training on the California Aerosol Transmissible Diseases (ATD) standard and COVID-19 citation issuance and served as a Cal/OSHA contact to the California Department of Public Health and the state Department of Justice.

Previously, while at a mid-size Los Angeles law firm he developed a real estate litigation defense practice, including TILA and RESPA. Eric also practiced in secured transactions and commercial law, and represented licensees in IP litigation alleging theft of trademark.  

Eric began his career working at a boutique law firm handling securities, white collar crime, and complex litigation.

  • Represented individuals and corporations in investigations by Securities Exchange Commission and U.S. Attorney’s Office
