UK: Forcing employees to get a vaccine – worth a shot?

With the extremely exciting news of the first COVID-19 vaccines being rolled out in the UK, many UK employers will be getting excited for a potential return to “normal” in 2021 and what the vaccine might mean for their staff.

Two immediate questions employers are asking us are:

  1. Can we / should we require employees to get a vaccination before returning to the workplace? 
  2. Can we require all employees to return to work once the most vulnerable people have all had their vaccines?
