We now know that Proposition 22, which creates a new "third category" of workers in California, was approved by the voters. The most immediate impacts of this watershed event will be felt in the Golden State, but the political tremors, which start in California, are frequently felt elsewhere as well.

Littler's Workplace Policy Institute (WPI) has been tracking the twists and turns in California's independent contractor law for the past two plus years, and has published extensively on the topic. This webinar is the most recent in our series, and is designed to bring viewers up to speed regarding such topics as:

  • The current state of California's independent contractor law: AB 5, as recently modified by AB 2257
  • The projected impact of Proposition 22 on businesses of all kind (“gig” and “traditional”) in California and beyond
  • The status of the federal Department of Labor proposed changes to the independent contractor
