Stefan Marculewicz Appointed to Independent Mexico Labor Expert Board

(July 21, 2020) – Stefan J. Marculewicz, a shareholder in the Washington, D.C. office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been appointed to the Independent Mexico Labor Expert Board by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy for a six-year term.

“We congratulate Stefan on his appointment to the Independent Mexico Labor Expert Board,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, Littler co-managing directors, in a joint statement. “His deep experience in global labor relations and international labor standards, combined with his involvement with U.S. Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Council for International Business make him an excellent choice for this role. We look forward to his success on the board and expanding its many efforts.”

The Board was created under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act to monitor and evaluate the implementation of Mexico’s labor law reforms and compliance with its obligations under the labor chapter of the USMCA. The Board plays an important role to advise Congress on Mexico’s timely implementation of these important labor reforms.

House Minority Leader McCarthy also appointed Philip Miscimarra of Morgan Lewis to serve on the Board.  In a statement, the Republican Leader said: “Stefan and Philip are respected experts in their field who have spent their professional careers as advocates for international labor standards and champions of transparent and fair employment laws. I am confident that they will ensure Mexico’s compliance to the standards outlined by the USMCA and contribute to the deal’s overall success.”

At Littler, Marculewicz, serves as co-chair of the Business and Human Rights practice group, and has counseled and defended multinational corporations on a wide variety of issues involving international labor standards. He also advises employers on the development and implementation of global labor relations strategies and compliance programs. Additionally, he has testified before both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate related to labor law policy.

Marculewicz has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America©, named a recommended lawyer by Legal 500, and received the AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He earned his J.D. from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and his B.A. from the Lawrence University of Wisconsin.
