Littler's Theodora Lee Elected to American Board of Trial Advocates

SAN FRANCISCO, California (October 18, 2019) – Littler is pleased to announce that Theodora R. Lee, a senior shareholder in the San Francisco office of Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has been elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). New members were selected on Saturday, October 12, at the national board meeting in Washington, D.C.

“ABOTA is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious national organizations for trial lawyers,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors, in a joint statement. “This is an incredible achievement, and we congratulate Theo on this well-deserved honor.”

Founded in 1958, ABOTA is an invitation-only national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. ABOTA and its members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA membership consists of more than 7,600 lawyers – equally balanced between plaintiff and defense – and judges in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Lee has extensive courtroom experience and practices before all state and federal courts in California and Texas and all employment-related regulatory agencies. Her recent litigation successes include class actions involving disparate impact; unpaid commissions and expense reimbursement; employee status, overtime, meal and rest periods; and overtime and exempt status under the California Labor Code and Fair Labor Standards Act. Additionally, she defends various corporations in cases in state or federal courts alleging Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Employment and Housing Act violations, wage and hour class actions and whistleblower and wrongful termination claims, and she has obtained dismissals via summary judgment in countless cases.

A settlement commissioner, AAA certified arbitrator and mediator, Lee has concluded more than 2,000 matters through use of private arbitration or mediation, including large multiparty litigation actions and individuals suing their employers. Lee regularly appears on television and radio, including NPR and PBS, speaking on various employment topics.

Lee earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and her B.A. from Spelman College. She has been awarded the AV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer and a Top Woman Lawyer in Northern California.
