Littler's Costa Rica Attorneys Named in 2018 Who's Who Legal Central America Labour, Employment & Immigration Guide

(August 9, 2018) – Three attorneys from BDS Asesores, part of Littler’s global platform, have been recognized in the 2018 Who’s Who Legal, Central America: Labour Employment & Immigration guide.

Costa Rica partners Marco Durante Calvo, Francisco Salas Chaves and Alejandro Trejos Gómez were listed among 34 attorneys recommended in the fields of labor, employment and immigration law. Additionally, Durante was one of four attorneys designated “Most Highly Regarded” in labor, employment and immigration.

Selection for Who’s Who Legal is based on research and interviews from private practice lawyers, general counsel, legal experts and other market sources. Those listed have wide-ranging experience handling collective and individual matters in both the public and private sector, including treatment of workers, restrictive covenants, transfers of undertakings, collective bargaining agreements and team moves.

Marco Durante Calvo has extensive experience in diverse legal fields ranging from labor and constitutional practice to labor law in both a collective and individual domain. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences regarding current labor issues in the national and international spheres. Durante has been a member of the law faculty of the University of Costa Rica since 1998 and is a professor in the Labor and Social Security Law Master’s Program at the Universidad Estatal a Distancia. Durante earned an M.A. from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain and an M.A. from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia in Costa Rica.

Francisco Salas Chaves is a founding member of BDS Asesores and co-chairs the firm’s consulting practice. He has experience in preventive and corrective labor counseling for numerous national and multinational companies. He is also experienced in labor law focused on public administration. Salas has been legal counsel for the Colegio de Licenciados y Profesores en Letras, Filosofía, Ciencias y Artes, as well as of the Pension and Retirement Board of the Magisterio Nacional. Salas earned his M.A. from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia and the Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional in Costa Rica. He earned his law degree from the University of Costa Rica.

Alejandro Trejos Gómez has broad experience in consultancy for companies operating in Central America and Panama. His practice focuses on monitoring and securing proprietary confidential information and drafting nondisclosure agreements and noncompete agreements. With substantial knowledge of computer science and intellectual property, he assists clients in protecting their trade secrets and other sensitive business information. Trejos has taught labor law at the University of Costa Rica and is a frequent contributor for the Elempleo.com Section of Periódico La Nación. Trejos earned his M.A. from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia in Costa Rica and his law degree from the University of Costa Rica.
