Preparing for FMLA Changes and Responding to ADA Amendments and Challenges

Managing employee leaves of absence can often thrust employers into a complicated legal web that involves the intersection of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The U.S. Department of Labor has issued recent amendments to the FMLA granting rights to family members of persons serving in the military and impacting notification obligations. Navigating through this legal entanglement will become even more challenging for employers as the extensive amendments to the ADA and to the FMLA regulations become effective.

This complimentary breakfast briefing will cover:

  • The FMLA’s new family military leave requirements
  • The new amendments to the FMLA regulations
  • Highlights of the amendments to the ADA
  • Developments in the law of reasonable accommodation of persons with disabilities
  • The complex interplay between the FMLA and the ADA
