The International Labour Organization is the United Nations agency responsible for authorizing and overseeing international labor standards. Recently, these ILO standards, which are similar to treaties and are meant to be adopted by nations, not private enterprises, have increasingly been adopted by international business. This webinar will address ILO standards, how they are drafted, authorized and interpreted, how they are meant to be used and how they are increasingly being used by international business. We will also discuss how ILO standards are used in policy initiatives like the UN Global Compact, the UN Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidelines, and how they are used by global unions and NGOs.
