On Monday, July 14, 2014, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission approved new Enforcement Guidance on Pregnancy Discrimination and Related Issues. This newly issued guidance is a direct result of the EEOC's more laser-focused approach to pregnancy discrimination concerns – a priority the agency identified in its Strategic Enforcement Plan for FY 2013–2016 under "Emerging and Developing Issues." According to Commissioner Lipnic, who was one of the two Commissioners voting against the new enforcement guidance, the EEOC has adopted "new and dramatic changes to the law" regarding workplace treatment of pregnancy.

This complimentary webinar will include:

  • A detailed review and analysis of the new guidance on pregnancy discrimination
  • Discussion of the relationship between the ADAAA and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the impact of the newly issued guidance
  • Review of the Young v UPS case, which is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court and may impact enforcement of the guidance, depending on the outcome of the decision
  • Steps employers can take in response to the guidance
