After 5 years of work and some 40 consultations with business, states and civil society around the world, Professor John Ruggie, the Special Representative of the U.N. Secretary General, published a draft of his Guiding Principles on business and human rights on November 22, 2010.

These Guiding Principles are likely to impact your business, and you need to be ready for them.

Professor Ruggie is soliciting public comment on this Draft until 31 January 2011.

It is vital that Business take the opportunity to respond to this Draft now because once the Principles become final, all corporations will be expected to follow them. We believe because of their profile, multi-national corporations will be the first ones subject to scrutiny under the new principles.

WEBINAR SERIES ON THE PRINCIPLES:

In order to help you start to understand what all this means for your business, now and in the future, Littler presents the first in a series of company briefings on the Guiding Principles.

In the first session we will cover:

The Draft Principles: what they are.
  • What the Draft Principles expect of business.
  • What issues and problems we see with the Draft Principles.
  • How you as a business can comment on the Draft Principles.
  • How the Draft Principles will impact your business.

Please join us by participating in one of our hour-long briefing sessions on this topic.

Speakers will include those who have followed this debate since its inception and who have a global view on how this might affect you:
