In this article discussing the recent NLRB action excluding supervising nurses from unions, Littler's Rick Roskelley comments on a related decision which affected the classification of supervisors at a Mississippi company that manufactures windows and doors. "(The rulings) would really apply to any business where you have 'lead' employees -- workers who aren't full-blown managers but who have the ability to assign duties to other employees," Roskelley said. "Lead employees have a responsibility to direct other employees and they can use their independent judgment when doing so."
