Colleen Mallea's practice focuses on labor and employment law. She has experience representing employers in federal and state courts in matters arising under the:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA)
  • Tennessee Human Rights Act (THRA)
  • Tennessee Disability Act (TDA)
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

She defends employers against allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful discharge. Colleen also assists employers in identifying the potential for litigation and mitigating legal risk. Her experience further includes education matters, including representing higher education institutions in Title IX litigation and defending state educational agencies against Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), ADA, and Rehabilitation Act claims.

Before joining Littler, Colleen gained valuable experience in the public sector, first in Tennessee’s Central Procurement Office and then in the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office. As an assistant attorney general, Colleen served as lead counsel in complex litigation involving employment, education, and constitutional issues.
