The coronavirus (COVID-19) has pushed millions of employees and contractors to work remotely. In addition, pandemic-related travel restrictions and U.S. immigration limitations prevent staff from traveling to employer locations. We find ourselves now in an era where organizations rely on the services of staff working remotely in foreign countries, far removed from the employer’s brick-and-mortar office or work site.

Cross-border telecommuting opens up fresh possibilities and exciting opportunities for organizations to benefit from innovative overseas talent with special skills, sometimes at a lower cost. Of course, there are inevitable HR and logistical challenges any time an employer and a worker are in different countries. Indeed, cross-border telecommuting raises difficult legal hurdles, particularly around structuring a compliant payroll and conforming to the telecommuter’s host-country employment law mandates.

This fast-paced webinar features Littler attorneys who will explain how to set up successful, legally compliant cross-border telecommuting arrangements. Special guest presenter, Shiran Danoch with Empirical Hire, will discuss how data-driven decision making is being used to determine who should be working remotely and who we should keep at the office.
