As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt and dominate daily life in California, many businesses remain closed, but City Hall … City Hall is open. About ten different California cities and counties have recently passed ordinances, which directly impact workplaces, employers and employees in the Golden State. Many of these provide for leaves of absence relating to the pandemic, but others cover a variety of subjects, including the right to recall from a furlough, and the right to refuse to work when an employee does not feel safe.

The California cities and counties with new COVID-19 and workplace ordinances include Long Beach, Los Angeles (city), Los Angeles (county), Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, San Mateo County, and Santa Rosa.

In this 60 minute webinar, Littler attorneys Bruce J. Sarchet and Kayla K. Cox, who are the hosts of the popular First Friday series of webinars, will provide an overview of these new California city ordinances, and will provide practical suggestions for compliance. Human resources professionals and in-house employment law counsel are encouraged to attend!
