On the last day of 2019, health officials in China notified the World Health Organization of a cluster of patients with a mysterious pneumonia. Since then, the workplaces of the world have been turned upside down. Employers in the Golden State have faced particular challenges. The state, cities and counties have passed shelter in place orders and businesses have slowed and stopped. Those remaining open face their own unique set of challenges.

This webinar will explore the employment and labor law aspects of COVID-19 in the workplace. The speakers will discuss current thinking (which seems to change every 24 hours) with regard to such topics as:

  • "Essential" and "nonessential" businesses under shelter in place orders
  • OSHA obligations
  • Temperature checks in the workplace
  • What to do when an exposed employee/customer enters the workplace
  • Employment law aspects of working from home
  • Dealing with absent employees - leaves of absence, including the new federal emergency sick leave and family leave law
  • Not enough work: reducing hours and pay
  • Closing shop: The WARN Act

This webinar is designed to provide practical, real-world advice to businesses facing some of the most challenging employment and labor law issues of our generation, if not several generations.
