Zoe P. Grisz advises and represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters arising under both state and federal laws. Zoe’s practice is built on a complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution background, concentrating on labor and employment litigation matters.
Zoe emphasizes practical solutions while also keeping businesses free to focus on what allows them to be successful in the first place. She has extensive experience advising employers and defending litigation involving issues such as:
- Discrimination, harassment and retaliation
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
- Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state wage and hour laws
- Employment policies, handbooks and contracts
- Unfair competition and trade secrets
Zoe prioritizes strategies to reduce litigation risks through her counseling and advice practice. She regularly represents her clients in alternative dispute resolution, such as mututal mediations. When informal efforts to resolve disputes prove unsuccessful, Zoe zealously advocates for her clients.
In the event of litigation, Zoe strategizes with clients to reach the best outcome for their business by considering creative solutions and approaches. She represents employers in all stages of litigation, from administrative proceedings, to discovery management, briefing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, and mediation and settlement negotiations.
During law school, Zoe served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Jorge Solis, Chief Judge for the Northern District of Texas, and worked in the Public Integrity and White Collar units in the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. Zoe was also president of SMU Dedman Law’s Women in Law and served as a chief of the Civil/Consumer Clinic.
Prior to attending law school, Zoe earned her TEFL Certification and spent a year teaching English to children and adults in Seoul, South Korea.
