As an attorney, technologist and communicator on emerging technological issues, Chase Perkins has the experience to guide clients concerning digital transformations, workforce automation, utilization of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and data protection and privacy. Chase has extensive knowledge of cryptography, blockchain, cyber security, cyber governance, corporate espionage, cloud services, biometric data privacy, Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) considerations and concerns, autonomous machines, deepfakes, data breaches, smart devices and best practices for workplace digital policies. Chase is a regular speaker and publisher in these fields.
In addition, Chase’s hands-on experience developing artificial intelligence tools and incorporating emerging technology into ongoing enterprise operations at scale provides him a unique perspective, and gives him the ability to advise clients on how to evaluate new technology, assess the associated legal exposure new technology presents, and help clients to strategize, develop and implement safeguards.
Chase is the founder and CEO of Thoughtly. He previously was corporate counsel for a blockchain-based organization dedicated to protecting online identity and digital privacy. Chase served as a law clerk for the department of law, City of Chicago, Corporate Counsel, Torts Division, and as a judicial extern for the Hon. Samuel Der-Yeghiayan, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois.
During law school, Chase was senior editor of the Loyola Consumer Law Review, was a member of the American Bar Association Moot Court Team, and participated in Loyola’s comparative legal studies program in Rome, Italy and Strasbourg, France. Justice Antonin Scalia served as the constitutional law professor in Rome.
