HHS Will Begin Processing ERRP Cost Reporting and Reimbursement Requests

health care cost2.JPGThe U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that it will begin processing cost reporting and reimbursement requests under the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) for plan sponsors whose applications have been approved. Plan Sponsors are required to report costs before requesting reimbursement under the program. A link to the HHS’s training presentation on reporting costs and requesting reimbursement can be found here. (pdf)

In order to protect the integrity of the program, the HHS emphasizes that “regardless of who requests reimbursement, the same individual may not also report costs.” Reimbursement requests may be submitted once per calendar year quarter for a plan year. Additionally, requests must be submitted at least 30 days apart.

Last week, the HHS released additional guidance documents to help plan sponsors understand which types of medical items and services are not eligible for reimbursement under the ERRP.
