Littler’s Scott Rechtschaffen Inducted as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 23, 2014) – Scott Rechtschaffen, Chief Knowledge Officer and a shareholder at Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management (the College). Rechtschaffen was selected based on his significant contributions to law practice management and was inducted at the College’s 2014 Futures Conference in Boston.

Formed in 1994, the College honors and recognizes distinguished law practice management professionals, sets standards of achievement for others in the profession, and funds and assists projects that enhance the highest quality of law practice management. Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected by the College’s Trustees based on their achievements and leadership in law practice management. Rechtschaffen was nominated by Michael Mills, president of Neota Logic; Toby Brown, chief practice officer of Akin Gump; and lawyer and consultant Ron Friedmann of Prism Legal.

“Scott plays a significant role in driving innovation at Littler and is most deserving of this recognition,” said Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, Littler’s co-managing directors. “We look forward to Scott’s continued contributions to the firm and congratulate him on receiving this honor.”

With nearly 30 years of experience in law and technology, Rechtschaffen has assisted in developing some of Littler’s most innovative client service solutions. He continually pushes industry boundaries by creating services that are technology-focused and efficient, while centered on the needs of the global employer community. Rechtschaffen’s background as an attorney combined with his progressive approach to business and law, was instrumental in founding one of the first large-scale Knowledge Management (KM) efforts in any U.S. law firm over a decade ago. He also founded and now serves as co-chair of Littler’s Innovation Council.

“As a firm deeply committed to innovation in the delivery of legal services, Littler continuously strives to develop new technologies and solutions that enhance our ability to serve the needs of global employers,” said Rechtschaffen. “The College and its Fellows share this same passion for inspiring new approaches that increase efficiency in legal service and it is an honor to be included among this prestigious group.”

Throughout his career, Rechtschaffen has garnered industry-wide accolades for his achievements in advocating and supporting technology and innovation in the legal community.  He was recently named to the 2014 Fastcase 50, an annual list honoring 50 innovators, visionaries and leaders in the law. Rechtschaffen was also singled out by The Recorder as a ‘game changer’ for the firm’s continued KM innovation and has been recognized by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) as one of its Knowledge Management Champions.

Rechtschaffen is also a prolific speaker and author on the subject of innovation and technology in the legal industry. Active in the professional community, he serves on the Steering Committee of ILTA’s KM Peer Group and is also a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section and Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association, the Labor Law Section of the State Bar of California, and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
