Littler Attorneys Phillip Gordon and Lauren Woon Receive Prestigious 2013 Burton Award for Writing Excellence

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 22, 2013) – Shareholder Philip Gordon (Denver) and Associate Lauren Woon (San Diego), attorneys from Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the world’s foremost employment and labor law firm representing management, have earned the Burton Foundation’s coveted Distinguished Legal Writing Award. The Burton Award, bestowed by the Burton Foundation in association with the Library of Congress, honors the finest law firm writers.  This year, 30 winners were selected from the nominations submitted by the nation’s 1,000 most prestigious and largest law firms.  In addition, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was awarded the Burton Foundation’s “Contemporary Book of the Year in Law Award.” 

Gordon and Woon were honored for their article, “Re-thinking and Rejecting Social Media ‘Password Protection’ Legislation.” This year’s winners will be recognized at the 14th Annual Burton Awards event at the Library of Congress on June 3, 2013.

The Academic Board, which reviewed article submissions included Virginia Wise, Harvard Law School; Anne E. Kringel, University of Pennsylvania Law School; Grace Tonner, University of California Law School at Irvine; Judge Ed Forstenzer, California Superior Court (retired); and William Ryan, former Chair of the White House Plain Language Committee.
