Michelle E. Shivers focuses her practice on defending and counseling management with respect to a wide variety of labor and employment matters, with an emphasis in the areas of:
- State and federal wage and hour compliance
- Employment discrimination
- Workplace harassment
- Wrongful discharge
- Family and Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
She has extensive experience defending employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliatory discharge, as well as claims for failure to accommodate. She practices in a number of state and federal courts, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state employment agencies.
Michelle develops management training programs on employee leave and accommodation issues, worker classification, documentation and interviewing. She trains and advises clients on legal compliance and preventative employment strategies under various federal and state laws, including:
- Title VII
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act
- The Fair Labor Standards Act
- The Family and Medical Leave Act
