Littler

José Luis López has been practicing law for over 27 years with a primary focus on representing management in a wide variety of litigation involving employment law, social security and employee benefits issues. He specifically handles individual and collective employment proceedings before Mexico’s Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Boards and has tried cases before the Federal Court of Fiscal and Administrative Justice in that jurisdiction.

Over the years, José Luis’ comprehensive litigation experience has included representing large international clients, including Global 500 companies, in a wide variety of matters, including claims of unjust dismissal, compensation, and employee benefits.  He has established an impressive track record successfully representing corporations in complex litigation before the Boards and courts of appeal. 

José Luis also maintains an active counseling practice, working with clients on conducting business in Mexico, cross-national hiring/firing, implementing layoffs, executive compensation agreements, implementing rules for severance and benefits payment, conducting internal audits, litigation avoidance, and responding to employment issues arising in the workplace. 

Prior to joining Littler, De la Vega y Conde, José Luis headed the employment law practice group at another law firm in Mexico.  He was the legal director of litigation matters for an important commercial conglomerate and a founding partner of Legal LT Consulting. José Luis began his legal career at Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados, where he practiced civil and commercial litigation and became a junior partner.

José Luis is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences of professional and private organizations, especially COPARMEX, an employers’ association in Mexico, Universidad La Salle and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has conducted client trainings on labor and social security topics.
