Jeannie M. DeVeney represents retailers, school districts, public entities, and other employers in all types of employment law issues. She has successfully tried harassment, discrimination and retaliation cases to juries in both state and federal courts and has appeared before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Missouri Commission on Human rights, the Kansas Human Rights Commission, the Kansas City Human Relations Department and numerous other state and federal agencies. She has specific experience with claims related to:
- The Family and Medical Leave Act
- Title VII
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- The Fair Labor Standards Act
- The Missouri Human Rights Act
She also handles whistle-blowing cases and wage and hour class and collective actions. She has obtained summary judgments in numerous forums and has successfully defended appeals of those rulings.
In addition, Jeannie offers counseling on a wide variety of topics, including discrimination and harassment issues, and she provides training to help prevent problems in the workplace.
Jeannie is one of the founders of Littler’s Kansas City office. Before working at Littler Mendelson, Jeannie worked at another firm for 14 years where she was the Labor and Employment Practice Group leader and the head of the Attorney Relations Committee.
