Jane Cecil focuses her practice on all aspects of employment litigation, including management counseling, employment law training and defending management against all types of discrimination, harassment, non-compete and wage and hour claims. She has handled class and collective actions and multiple employee cases in state and federal court, and she regularly appears before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Missouri Commission on Human Rights and the Kansas Human Rights Commission. She has specific knowledge of claims involving:
- Title VII
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- The Family and Medical Leave Act
- The Fair Labor Standards Act
- The Missouri Human Rights Act
- The Kansas Act Against Discrimination
As part of her extensive litigation experience, Jane has obtained bench trial verdicts and jury verdicts on behalf of management in cases involving:
- Disability discrimination
- Age discrimination
- Retaliation
- Non-compete matters
She also has successfully defended employment-related class and collective actions on behalf of employers with facilities nationwide, and has successfully obtained dismissal or summary judgment in multiple discrimination, harassment and retaliation lawsuits which have been upheld on appeal when challenged.

Additionally, Jane provides employers with day-to-day counseling on human resources issues; conducts policy reviews and training sessions on effectively managing employees; and drafts and litigates non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements. She also is a frequent author and speaker on employment issues.
In law school, Jane was note and comment editor for the Law Review, a research editor for The Urban Lawyer Journal, and a teaching assistant for Civil Procedure and Property Law classes. She also participated in a Chinese Law Program at the University of Peking in Beijing, the People's Republic of China.
