Littler

Angela B. Cummings represents and advises a diverse range of employers in all aspects of employment law. She regularly litigates cases involving:

  • Unlawful termination
  • Breach of contract
  • Employment discrimination
  • Title VII
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act
  • The Age Discrimination in Employment Act
  • The Family and Medical Leave Act
  • The Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Other federal and state employment laws

She practices in state and federal courts in North Carolina, in arbitrations, and before state and federal administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the North Carolina Department of Labor. She also has experience litigating class and collective actions, including wage and hour collective actions.

In addition to her litigation experience, Angela counsels employers on strategies for minimizing employment litigation and regularly provides advice to corporations of all sizes on the practical and legal implications of day-to-day employment decisions. She has successfully represented employers in several reported decisions that provide employer-favorable case law. She also possesses significant experience training managers and employees with respect to legal compliance, mixing practical scenarios with important legal information, and frequently writes articles on employment law topics for a variety of news and legal publications.

Angela is a founding member in Littler Mendelson's Charlotte office and a member of the firm's Women's Leadership Initiative.

Prior to joining Littler in August 2003, Angela was an associate at another firm, where she practiced labor and employment law exclusively. In law school, she was note and comment editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulations.
