On December 9, 2014, the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) published a Final Rule that will prohibit federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating against employees and applicants on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. The Final Rule implements Executive Order (EO) 13672, signed by President Barack Obama on July 21, 2014, which added sexual orientation and gender identity to the prohibited bases of discrimination in EO 11246. The final rule will become effective April 8, 2015, and will apply to federal contracts entered into or modified on or after that date.

In particular, because only 18 states (plus the District of Columbia) have laws prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity, this seminar will discuss gender identity issues that have arisen in other workplace settings so that HR professionals and EEO compliance specialists can preempt discrimination claims on the front end. Front line managers and supervisors may not be aware of what conduct and actions relating to gender identity could be viewed as discriminatory, and we are offering this training proactively.

During the webinar we will provide an overview of the new regulations, including dates you need to remember, places where new language needs to be inserted into what types of documents, as well as what type of behavior is prohibited by these regulations.
