New York Hospitality Industry Regulations

Tuesday, February 1

  • 8:00 AM PST
New York, NY

On December 15, 2010, the New York State Department of Labor issued its final Hospitality Industry Wage Order, which became effective on January 1, 2011. The Order makes several significant changes to the current regulations. These are the most significant changes in a decade or more, and they may require monumental changes in the way many restaurants and hotels pay their employees and the records they create and maintain.

Please join us on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 for a complimentary briefing where we will discuss these extensive changes and what you should be doing right now to fully comply with the new regulations. Speakers will include New York shareholder Elena Paraskevas-Thadani and associate Sara Sheinkin. During this session, we will discuss:

  • Minimum and Overtime Wage
  • Spread of Hours
  • Tip Sharing and Tip Pooling
  • "Service Charges"
  • Wage theft prevention action
  • Limitation on Use of Tip Credit
  • Meal Credits
  • Uniforms

Registration and Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Program: 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
