This program is designed for in-house counsel and HR professionals.

Managing employee leaves of absence requires employers to navigate a complex and ever-changing maze of employment laws – including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at the federal level, and additional laws at the state level. With the increase in government enforcement action and employee discrimination and retaliation claims, the complexity of managing leaves and the associated legal risks continue to grow.

In this complimentary program, we will examine important recent developments under the ADA and FMLA and local laws, and will provide practical guidelines for effectively managing some of the most common and frustrating leave challenges, including:

  • Determining leave eligibility
  • Managing intermittent and reduced-schedule leaves
  • Providing benefits during leave
  • Reinstating employees after leave
  • Terminating employees during or after leave
