Information Management in the Digital Age
Wednesday, September 23
- 7:00 AM PDT
In today’s increasingly complex litigation environment, law firms and corporate legal departments are relying more and more on information management to control and better utilize legal and case-specific knowledge. This includes substantive knowledge of particular legal topics and the use of matter management (MM) systems, to track, control, manage, analyze, and report on legal activities and costs. Today's practice of law requires companies to use counsel who effectively use Knowledge Management (KM) to meet company needs including publications, briefing, legal surveys, precedent documents, firm and company expertise, practice group specialists, and the collective knowledge of law firm and legal department attorneys working for the company. MM systems assist in this KM and have been evolving for decades, growing more and more complicated also in an effort to keep pace with the demands put upon them. The additional functionality can be a two-edged sword, however. Yes, it provides us with data tracking and reporting capabilities that did not exist previously. On the other hand, the potentially bewildering variety of modules and configurations available can make it difficult for end users to get maximum value from a MM system for their specific needs.
With that challenge in mind, please join us for a panel discussion entitled “Information Management in the Digital Age.” We will cover a great deal of ground related to MM systems. Our topics include
- Law Firms and Law Departments Using Work Product and
Knowledge Management - Internal Reporting (within law departments)
- Use of Form Contracts (within law firms)
- Use of Form Contracts (within law departments)
- Importance of Law Department Metrics
Please join us as we focus on raising the awareness in corporate law departments regarding the important issues related to matter and information management.
