This course will swiftly get you up to speed on mitigating company risk from the hiring process, to investigating misconduct and knowing when/how to discharge.
- Get practical strategies for managing employee documentation to safeguard the employer from potential lawsuits
- Use checklists to review the necessary procedures to ensure a legal hire
- Recognize the importance of waivers and releases after termination of an employee
- Learn the key steps to investigating employee misconduct thoroughly and legally
- Review legally required immigration documents in order to remain in compliance with ever-changing laws
- Recognize how to appropriately respond to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or local state agency charges as a result of employee discipline
- Ensure compliance with federal and state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) requirements when performing layoffs
- Examine special concerns when disciplining or discharging in union environments
- Understand unemployment compensation guidelines and how to manage unemployment compensation costs
- Refresh yourself on current laws and prepare for expected changes
