"Are You Working Or Are You Praying? And What Are You Wearing On Your Head?" Demystifying Workplace Religious Accommodation

EEOC charges alleging religious discrimination in violation of Title VII nearly doubled between 2001 and 2011 and remain the second fastest growing group of charges. The EEOC and individual employees are litigating religious accommodation with great fervor, and state and local workplace religious freedom acts are arising across the country.

This practical, interactive discussion will include the following:

  • What qualifies as a religious belief or practice
  • How the interactive process works in the context of religion
  • What "de minimis" really means
  • How state and local workplace religious freedom legislation may change the way we accommodate
