If recent headlines are any indication, immigration is one of the most politically charged areas of employment law today. In fact, ICE has initiated a strategic shift in the way it approaches employers by bringing criminal charges against them and seizing their assets. This is a shift from the old tactic of administrative fines as sanctions. In this climate, your ability to verify that employees in your company are legally authorized to work in the U.S. is of crucial importance. Under this pressure, employers are left to decipher complicated laws and regulations couched in mysterious jargon in their efforts to find workers, fill open positions and keep operations running.

Join us on June 10, 2008 when we will discuss the dozens of traps faced by unsuspecting HR professionals and dissect common missteps by employers.

This complimentary program will address key areas of concern for employers:

  • Best practices for Form I-9 validation of identity and work authorization
  • The role of the SSA and other agencies in the enforcement of immigration compliance
  • The role of local legislation in the enforcement compliance model
