Your Future Begins with One Summer
Our summer program is a primary source for recruiting full-time, entry-level associates. The work is demanding yet rewarding, and summer associates are asked to contribute significantly to ongoing cases.
Our goal is to expose summer associates to as many areas of the firm’s practice as possible, and to provide constructive and valuable feedback on their work. Our summer associate coordinators carefully monitor assignments to ensure that each participant receives sufficient training and development, as well as a broad range of work experience.
Our program also includes a number of social activities, which vary from office to office. We strive to provide our associates with the opportunity to interact socially with one another and other members of our firm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What types of work are summer associates exposed to?
A: Littler has represented more than 50,000 employers in virtually every industry. We assist many of the Fortune 500 companies, as well as small to mid-sized companies throughout the U.S. and abroad with all issues relating to the workplace. This translates to our summer associates being exposed to many of our different practice areas. We also pride ourselves on providing our summer associates with opportunities to obtain “hands-on” experience, including attending arbitrations, negotiations, mediations, depositions, hearings and client interviews.
Q: Do summer associates get feedback on their work throughout the summer?
A: Absolutely. Littler is committed to providing thorough and timely feedback and constructive comments on all work produced. Summer associates at Littler are evaluated on writing and research skills, analytic ability, efficiency, enthusiasm and more. Formal mid-summer and end-of-the-summer evaluations are conducted to provide summer associates a comprehensive analysis of their progress.
Q: What training do summer associates receive?
A: In addition to work assignments, the summer program also features professional meetings and lunches designed to teach you more about our practices, our firm and our culture. You may also participate in a variety of training programs on employment law topics, legal research, legal writing and litigation or business practices. During the time you are at Littler, we also invite you to attend regular associate training sessions.
