Biography
J. René Toadvine, Esq., is the managing shareholder of Littler's Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina offices. Mr. Toadvine maintains a nationwide practice that focuses on representing management in all facets of employee benefits matters, including employee benefits tax matters, ERISA and employee benefit planning, executive compensation, employee benefits in mergers and acquisitions and bank finance and ERISA issues in securitizations. His experience includes providing plan design, drafting and compliance support for all types of tax-qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation and welfare benefit plans. Mr. Toadvine is a frequent speaker and writer on employee benefits topics.
Mr. Toadvine is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation, Employee Benefits Committee; the Kentucky Bar Association; the District of Columbia Bar Association; the North Carolina Bar Association; the Southern Employee Benefits Conference; and the Charlotte Benefits Forum. He earned a B.S. degree in mathematics from Northern Kentucky University and a J.D. degree, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Toadvine practiced as a senior actuarial analyst in the life and health insurance industry.
