Biography

Mr. Rechtschaffen has advised and represented clients in a broad range of employment and labor relations matters. He has represented employers in proceedings before federal and state administrative agencies as well as in both federal and state courts. Mr. Rechtschaffen has extensive experience advising employers on how to prevent or minimize the risk of employment-related litigation. In this area, Mr. Rechtschaffen has worked with employers in implementing proactive human resource policies, employee handbooks, alternative dispute resolution policies, training programs and management-union relations strategies.

As Littler's Managing Shareholder of Knowledge Management, Mr. Rechtschaffen leads the Firm's effort to provide innovative services by integrating new technologies to enable individual attorneys as well as clients to access the collective knowledge and experience of the Firm's more than 750 attorneys. Mr. Rechtschaffen combines over 25 years of experience representing companies in every area of labor and employment law with a broad understanding of technology to assist the Firm's attorneys and their clients in tailoring unique solutions that enhance the Firm's ability to deliver legal information and know-how to its clients.

Mr. Rechtschaffen is also responsible for the Firm's Executive Employer Conference, an annual gathering of in-house counsel and HR professionals representing some of the country's leading organizations, and the Firm's National Employer publication, an annual compendium of labor and employment information and analysis and the 2005 winner of the Burton Award.

Previously, Mr. Rechtschaffen served as Senior Vice President of Learning for ELT, the nation's premier provider of on-line employment law training services.

Publications

Mr. Rechtschaffen has written extensively and has had articles published in national human resource publications. He has been quoted in The New York Times and other major publications.

He has edited and contributed to the Littler Firm's annual labor law handbook, The Employer®. In addition, he is one of the primary authors of Employee Handbooks: How To Write One For Your Company, published by the California Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Rechtschaffen was also a primary author of Employee Handbook, an interactive software program designed for human resource professionals and attorneys.

Mr. Rechtschaffen was the co-creator of Winning Through Prevention: The Littler Employment Law Challenge, an innovative teaching tool, designed to enhance the training of managers and supervisors.

Lectures & Presentations

Mr. Rechtschaffen has done seminars on behalf of human resource and legal organizations, trade and industry associations, as well as leading training programs for companies and organizations throughout the country.
